Our partners John Marcarian and Matthew Marcarian are experienced
accountancy practitioners.
All our professionals
also have appropriate qualifications and experience to ensure that we
can attend to the needs of businesses and private clients across a wide
variety of areas.
We ensure that through
regular training and professional development our people are continually
kept abreast of the latest developments affecting the chartered accounting
profession – whether it be changes to tax law, superannuation
law or company law developments.
John Marcarian

John Marcarian is a Chartered
Accountant with over 25 years experience. John commenced his accounting
career with Ernst & Young.
Since that time John
has worked in the areas of tax & business services for Duesburys
and Deloitte prior to establishing his own Firm in 1992.
During his time at Duesburys
and Deloitte John advised many listed and unlisted corporate clients.
His specialization included international tax, capital gains tax, superannuation
and corporate tax.
Since the establishment
of his practice John has developed experience in dealing with executives
of public companies, medical practitioners, Australian expatriates and
business owners across many industries.
He has participated in
capital raisings and the formation of partnerships and joint ventures
across the industries of medicine, primary production, intellectual
property and commercial property.
John won the Price Waterhouse
Prize for Tax Law at Macquarie University. He has presented tax seminars
for the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Stock Exchange and
the Australian Society of CPA’s and Australian Chambers of Commerce
throughout the Asia Pacific.
In 2007 John was awarded
the degree of Master of International Taxation at the Australian School
of Taxation (ATAX) at the University of New South Wales.
John won the John Ranieri
Memorial Prize for the best performance by a graduating student in the
Master of International Taxation Program.
John has had a number
of articles published in the Tax Specialist a publication of
the Tax Institute of Australia and Charter a publication of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and the Tax
Yearbook a publication of the International Tax Planning Association.
John is a fellow of the
Tax Institute of Australia and is a member of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Australia and the International Tax Planning Association.
Matthew Marcarian
– B Com, CA, M Tax, JP
Matthew is a Chartered
Accountant with 15 years experience. Matthew commenced his career with
KPMG in 1993 in the Firm's Audit & Assurance division.
During this time Matthew
worked on some major audit assignments servicing major Australian corporations
including david Jones, Qantas, ANZ and Caltex.
In 1997 Matthew joined
the Middle Market Advisory Division of KPMG with a focus on providing
taxation and assurance services to private clients.
Matthew joined Marcarian
& Co in July 2000. Since commencing public practice Matthew has
developed extensive expertise in the areas of family trusts, capital
gains tax, executive tax issues including employee share plans and international
tax.
Matthew was awarded the
degree of Master of Taxation at the Australian School of Taxation (ATAX)
at the University of New South Wales.
Matthew was awarded the
Allens Arthur Robinson Prize for the best performance by a graduating
student in the Master of Taxation program.
Matthew has had works
published in leading taxation industry journals including Taxation
in Australia and the Tax Specialist.
Matthew is a member of
the Tax Institute of Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Australia.
